ABOUT

72 hours is the time during which public services may be disrupted following a major event. The goal of Faire Face 72 is to enable every citizen to be as self-reliant as possible during this period so that emergency services can focus on what matters most: saving lives.

The three pillars of citizen and family resilience:

- Stay informed: improve your knowledge to react better during a crisis. Every resident must be aware of the risks to which their municipality is vulnerable. Faire Face 72 offers an educational and interactive approach to risk prevention at the local level.

- Adapt: reduce the vulnerability of your home and adjust your behavior based on the risks. Resilience relies on individual anticipation to minimize the human and material consequences of exceptional events. Anticipation means adapting your behavior and home according to the risks.

- Prepare: be ready with the Faire Face 72 kits and remain self-sufficient for 72 hours. Each household can organize itself in advance of a crisis to better endure it. This involves adopting simple organizational principles and preparing to handle any situation. To achieve this, each household can develop its own Faire Face 72 Plan or Family Emergency Plan (PFMS).

What is resilience?

Resilience is defined as the willingness and ability of a country, society, and public authorities to withstand the consequences of severe events and then quickly restore normal functioning, or at least socially acceptable conditions.

Source: White Paper on Defense and National Security, 2008: Territorial resilience involves organizational and structural resilience at the scale of a territory (basin, valleys, municipality, district, or even neighborhood). Territorial resilience also depends on the resilience of families and individuals. This includes family emergency plans and the ability to remain safely at home for 72 hours while waiting for assistance.
